The largest single surface on most street frontages, and the first thing to look tired. We bring cedar garage and front doors back to a finish that lifts the whole house.
Book a free on-site assessmentA cedar garage door sits front and centre, usually facing the street, and often takes full afternoon sun with no eave over it. It ages faster than the cladding around it and it is the part of the house every visitor looks at first. When the stain goes chalky and the panels start to grey, the whole frontage reads as neglected even if the rest of the exterior is fine.
Auckland homeowners often ask us to do just the door — one surface, restored, and a house that suddenly looks looked-after again. It is a short job with a visible result, and often the cheapest improvement available to most street frontages.
Sectional, tilt and slider doors. We work around tracks, seals and hardware and coat every exposed face including edges.
Solid cedar entry doors, sidelights and surrounds, finished carefully around glazing and hardware.
Frames, reveals and feature panels coated to match, so the finished opening reads as one piece rather than a restored door in a faded frame.
Slat screens, porch linings and post detail at the entry, brought to the same tone as the doors.
Doors are detail work. The surface area is small, but the finish is inspected at close range every single day, so the preparation standard has to be higher than it would be on a wall three metres up.
Two things decide whether a restored door looks right: the tone, and whether the surfaces around it were done at the same time.
Where the weatherboards are sound, we take the door back to the same colourtone so the frontage reads as a single, deliberate scheme.
A darker door against lighter cladding is a strong look on modern builds. We will show you the option at assessment rather than assuming a match.
If the weatherboards are also due, doing both at once gives a genuinely uniform result and only one mobilisation to site.
We coat and protect existing doors. We do not repair, rehang or replace doors or their hardware — if a door needs mechanical work, have a joiner or door specialist attend to it first and we will finish it afterwards.
